Engine start procedure for Cirrus SR22T-G6

Cold Start (First start of the day or Oil temp < 100F)

  • Mixture: Full Rich
  • Power Lever: Full Forward
  • Fuel Pump - PRIME (2-3 seconds), then BOOST
  • Power Lever: Open 1/4 inch
  • Start
  • Oil pressure check, Amp check
  • Lean for Max RPM

Hot Start (Oil temp > 100F)

If the engine is warm, no priming is required. Remaining procedure is the same.

Hot Start (Oil temp is nw/ 150F and 200F)

Alternate technique:

  • No priming
  • Mixture at cutoff, power at half (“W”)
  • Fuel pump to BOOST right as you turn ignition to START
  • Bring mixture to full rich over three seconds while cranking
  • Bring power back once engine starts

Flooded Engine

Weak intermittent firing followed by puffs of black smoke from the exhaust stack indicates over-priming or flooding.

  • Turn fuel pump off
  • Allow fuel to drain from intake tubes
  • Set mixture to full lean, and power lever to full forward
  • Crank the engine through several turns
  • When engine starts, release ignition switch, retard power and add mixture to full rich

Note Limit cranking to intervals of 10 seconds with a 20-second cooling period between cranks.
