WAAS-GPS under IFR
Users of TSO-C145/C146, WAAS GPS systems[1]:
- May use it as the sole source of navigation
- May flight plan based on LNAV or circling minima at both destination and alternate
- May file RNAV approaches at both destination and alternate airports
WAAS approaches are considered to be “Approaches with Vertical Guidance” (APV) and do not meet the standards of a precision approach as described by ICAO. So for the purposes of alternate planning, they are still considered non-precision approaches.
